Obituary of Eero Maennena

Eero J. "John" Maennena, 60, of Zion, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Arbor View Nursing Home in Zion. He was born January 20, 1947 in Kalajoki, Finland to Mikael and Salli Maennena and came to the United States in 1972. He was an accomplished carpenter and did remodel work in the area for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, especially smelting on Lake Michigan. Survivors include his children Ari Maennena of Alabama, John Maennena of Zion, Aaron (Sabrina) Maennena of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and Heidi (Chris) Mallek of Winthrop Harbor; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with private cremation to follow.
