Obituary of Shirley Thorn

Shirley J. Thorn, 73, of Zion, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion. Shirley was born January 6, 1934 in Siren, Wisconsin and has lived in this area most of her life. She was a dedicated Avon Representative for the past 36 years and she retired from Cherry Electric. Shirley also belonged to Women of the Moose, Chapter 859 of the Zion-Benton Moose, the Zion Women's Club and the Zion Red Hatters. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with the family. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Franklin; children Michele (Bill) Cox of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Kevin (Tammy) Thorn of Hernando, Mississippi and Darryl (Kim) Thorn of Antioch, Illinois; six grandchildren Garrett, Kayle, Karissa, Tyler, Lauren and Ryan; and two sisters Velma (Bernie) Miner of White Bear Lake, Minnesota and Alberta Dagon of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by seven siblings Beulah Busch, Naomi Niemann, Roy Hudson, Florence Payson, Marie Peterson, Rufus Hudson and Albert Hudson; and her parents Lecter and Florence Hudson. Visitation will be Monday, September 10, 2007, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11th, at 10:30 a.m., at the Congdon Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Corley officiating and private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, or Mooseheart have been suggested.
