Obituary of John Jansen

John Preston Jansen, 86, of Waukegan, IL, and a resident of Rolling Hills Place in Zion, died on Saturday, November 26, 2011, Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. John was born November 23, 1925, in Waukegan, IL, and served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II from December of 1942 until November of 1945. He worked for American Steel and Wire in Waukegan for 15 years and then was employed and retired from Great Lakes Navy Fire Department after 20 years of service. John was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion of Paonia, CO. He also served as a volunteer for the Zion Fire Department for 17 years. Survivors include his children, Burton Jansen of Lake Forest, IL, Patricia (Hank) Jones of Carthage, N.C., and Judith Jansen of Crystal Falls, MI. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Winifred; father and mother, J. Burton and Margaret Jansen; and by 4 brothers and 1 sister. . Funeral services are private for the family.
