I will always remember all the good times I had at the Mayhak's house when I hung out with Pam. I would spend the night with Pam and have a great time. We would always go over to Grace Missionary Church and play basketball and visit with Bev. I also had Mr. Mayhak for health in high school. He was a great mentor to me all those years. To the family I would like to send my prayers and thoughts. He truely touched my life. God Bless. Patty Gehrig (Middleton)

Dear Bev & Family: I am sorry to hear of Dave's death, but also rejoicing that he knew Jesus as his Savior and is therefore in heaven. It was my privilege to know Dave and, of course, Bev and I were classmates. I also worked at Z-BTHS in the Athletic Department then the Bookstore, so I saw Dave often. God's comfort and blessings to the family at this time. Of note, my mother also passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2007.

Dear Bev, Pam, Scott and Kari, Jonathan, Justin and Jami, What a delight, for Dave, to be settled with his whole family in South Carolina! To be enjoying a church where he had the opportunity to serve and be served, to embrace and come to know more of God's Children, to be able to enjoy his golf game and his wonderful new home. That he "got to" enjoy his new hip and could walk in comfort once again. So many memories. We all loved Dave just exactly the way God made him!!! May God continue to show His mighty Hand as you come through the fog of this night....into a clear bright day--once again..experiencing your Heavenly Father's Love day by day. Love you all! Bob and Joan

Dear Bev and Family -- My fondest memories of Dave are from high school. He was always a special friend and a great Class President in 1957. I also remember our first meeting in kindergarten in 1943-44. I went home and told my mother that I saw a boy who had RED hair. Never saw that before. It was love at first sight!! My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. Marlene Cook Hodek.

Dear Bev, Pam & Scott, My mom (Shirley) always shares her ZB News with me and I was stunned to read Daves name in the obituaries. It wasnt too long ago that Bob Weaver took some time off from painting my parents house to help you guys move to your new place and it sounded so wonderful. Remember I actually used to baby sit Pam and Scott about 35 years ago? In my mind Dave Mayhak has always represented the very definition of a Godly father, husband, teacher, leader, guide, and coach. It is impossible to know the countless lives he has influenced and pointed toward Christ through the many leadership roles he gladly carried out throughout his lifetime. He was funny, he was cool, he was tough, and he was human. God gave him such a gift for communicating with and caring for people at the most difficult stage of life teens! We all loved him and listened to him. I am eternally grateful for the model he provided in my life and for his dedication to the Gospel. I just cant believe he is gone. I have been a kindergarten teacher for about 20 years (in Zion now @ West School) and am the mother of 2 high school girls, Julia and Hannahone of whom has autism. We belong to CrossWay Church in Bristol, WI, where fellow Camp Life-er Mike Bullmore is pastor. My own sweet dad, Chauncey, died just over a year ago at 83, but at least we knew it was coming. May God bless and comfort you all. Many hugs to you, Bev! "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you" Isaiah 43

Bev, I am so sorry for your loss...our prayers stand in the gap for you and your family during this time. What a blessing it has been to know Dave thru the years. Such a wonderful legacy in the lives of so many - ... yet he always considered himself just an ordinary man doing what God wanted him to do. Dave's honesty and passion for God has left a lasting impression on Zac that I will treasure always. That funny sense of humor will be missed - remember the racoon in the window well? I can just see him entertaining the heavenlies now. Thankfully, it is but a season till we see him again...

Mrs. Mayhak - I'm really going to miss Mr. Mayhak. I'll never forget all of the great times we had. He taught me so much about becoming a man and father of God. He, at some times, took up the father role in my life. He was such a wonderful man all around. He was the one who taught me how to tie a tie. Thanks to him, I can tie it with out looking in the mirror. He would always find time out of his day to spend with me. Whether it was engaging in a deep conversation, or just listening to the sounds of the garden. I always looked up to him as a strong christian role model. He was just so intuned with God. I still have the FCA bible he had gotten for me before we left for Georgia....I am going to miss him so much...But he is in a much better place now, and that's all that matters. My heart and soul is with you Mrs. Mayhak.
