Obituary of Joan C. Johnson
Joan Cecelia Johnson, nee Crawford, died peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Joan was born in Chicago, IL on November 18, 1927 and lived in Lake County, IL most of her adult life. She graduated from Glen Flora Grade School and Waukegan Township High School in 1946. She attended the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL and Northeastern University in Chicago, graduating with a B.A. degree in Art Education. She worked for many years in the North Chicago School System before retiring to Door County, Wisconsin. While living in Door County, she worked for the Door County Advocate Newspaper as the correspondent for the Ellison Bay/Gills Rock community news column. After retiring from the Advocate, she and her husband, Glen, relocated back to Illinois to live closer to their family.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Judy (Joe) Richardt, of Grayslake, IL and Ellison Bay, WI; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Carol (Frank) Hough; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Cecelia Short Crawford and William Kendall Crawford; husband, Glendon Holand Johnson; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Hanzel; daughters, Janice C. Johnson, Jill K. Cornell; and a son, Jeffrey G. Johnson.
