Obituary of Ruben Peña

Ruben "Benny" Peña, 74, passed away at his home in Zion, Illinois on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

He was born on August 27, 1949 in Manila, Philippines the son of Abel and Ligaya (Aldepolla) Peña. Benny served in the Navy for several years and worked as a Senior Chief Master of Arms, and as a Barracks Officer at the Great Lakes Naval Station. He loved music, by singing karaoke, and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed traveling, cooking food, and learning martial arts. 

He is survived by his children, Ruben Peña Jr., Abeward Peña, Philip Peña, Michael Peña, Richard Peña; one grandson, Levi Dalton Lemus Peña; siblings, Adoracion (Charles) Peri, Frank Peña, and Romeo Peña; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joe Lee "Jody" Peña; brother, Wilfredo Peña; and niece, Vanessa Peña.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m., at Congdon Funeral home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, Illinois 60099.
