Obituary of Aubrey Biggs Sr.
Aubrey Francis Biggs Sr., of Beach Park, Illinois, passed away April 18, 2024 in Beach Park. He was born April 18, 1928 in Prince George County, Allentown, Maryland to parents Temple and Bessie Biggs.
Aubrey married his wife, Beverly Rae Gavin January 31, 1958. He attended a Methodist Church and worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for 30 years. Aubrey was a lifelong member of the Blue Lodge of Wilmette, Scottish Rites, Medinah Temple of Chicago, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, the National Association of Atomic Veterans (NAAV), and was an Illinois State Commander of Atomic Veterans for 9 years. Aubrey served in the United States Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets on several destroyers and D.E.’s. He participated in five atomic bomb tests in the Marshall Islands. He was also part of the occupation forces in Japan and helped liberate Korea.
Aubrey is survived by his wife, Beverly Rae Biggs; daughter, Elizabeth Erickson; grandchildren, Joshua Biggs, Destiny Biggs, Presley Biggs, Aubrey James Biggs, David Robinson, Jennifer (Chris) Langston, Amanda (Steve) Pershke, Joshua Erickson, Jacob Erickson, Jessica Erickson, Shelly (Chad) Ward, and Cynthia McKinney; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie May (Taylor) Biggs and Temple Biggs; children, Robert Lee Biggs, Charles Otis Biggs, Debra Biggs, Aubrey F. Biggs Jr., and Edmond McKinley; four grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Temple Biggs Jr., Chester Biggs, Lester Biggs, and Stanley Biggs; and sister, Darlene (Kemper) Vaughn.
