Obituary of Gloria Stimes

Gloria M. Stimes, 87, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Gloria was born May 31, 1936 in Camp Douglas, WI to Marvin and Helen Nelson. On May 2, 1959, she married the love of her life, Duane, at First Church of God in Racine, WI. She was a faithful member of Palm City Church of God in Texas and was a retiree of Chryler Motors. Her greatest love was her family. Gloria was a phenomenal seamstress and excelled in all types of crafts. She was an avid collector of Angels especially kissing Angels and she collected knick knacks of all kinds.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Kent Stimes of Georgetown, KY and Robert (Bobby) Stimes of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Cassidy Stimes of Georgetown, KY, Amanda (Mandi) Stimes of Round Lake Beach, IL, and Todd (Samantha) Stimes of Wonder Lake, IL; 11 great-grandchildren, Alec, Lila, Daphne, Sydney, Hadley, Savanah, Pepper, Payton, Emma, Evalynn, Ry’le; one sister, Shirley Booth of Zion, IL, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her daughter, Debra; great-granddaughter, Harley; parents, Marvin and Helen Nelson; brothers, Spencer and William Dean Nelson; and in-laws, Kenneth and Doretla Stimes.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 10, 2024 from 5:00-6:00pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Service to follow at 6:00pm.
