Obituary of Marie Stephens

Marie "Meme" Stephens, 82, of Zion, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born July 16, 1924 on the family farm in Marion County, Alabama, one of seventeen children. She attended Lighthouse Community Fellowship in Winthrop Harbor. Marie was a homemaker who spent her entire life caring for her family and their needs. She loved the church and her many church families over the years. Survivors include her children Larry (Jayne) Stephens of Winthrop Harbor, Sherry (John) Belanger of Zion and Jeannie (Curtis) Hough of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; six grandchildren Lori, Geoff, Amanda, Tyler, Meggan and Andrew; ten great-grandchildren Brett, Jordyn, Jaziya, Jalayah, Jalyssa, Gabriel, Naomi, Adriaan, Aaliana and Allyson; four sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2007 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 9th, at 10:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Community Fellowship, 3205 9th Street, Winthrop Harbor, with Rev. William Swanger officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in her name has been established at National City Bank. Zion, for the benefit and welfare of the children of the community.
