Obituary of Lenora Butler

Lenora Butler, 70, of Zion passed away on March 21, 2024.

Lenora was born on April 8, 1953 to Rufus Burks and Mary Butler in Chicago, IL.   Lenora gave her life to Christ at a young age.  She worked as a CNA and at Boeing after attending some college.   Lenora brought a bounty of love  with cooking, her ability to sing, and play bass guitar.  Performing on stage singing while playing the bass in Seattle WA with her bandmates was an experience she looked for and loved.  She had an amazing sense of humor and a beautiful laugh! Her wit was razor sharp and she was known to say the most shocking thing she could think of, in hopes of helping you see a new perspective. She made her whole family laugh outrageous with all her silly sayings; one of them was,  “if it crosses my mind; it crosses my lips”.   She was kind, generous and compassionate.  She believed in being true to self, dignity and a person’s right to choose the life they want.  Lenora brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did.   She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke that same spirit of love in each person she knew.

Lenora will be desperately missed by all those that she left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. Lenora was predeceased by her father Rufus Burks, her mother Mary Butler; her brothers Eugene Butler, Marvin Butler, Rufus Butler; her sister Carolyn Holden. She is survived by her sons Terrance (Angela) Butler, Frederick (Kwanza) Butler; her daughter Antoinette Butler-White; her sisters Diane Hawkins, Vera Blalock, Barbara Howell; her grandchildren Maurice, Terrance Jr, Portia, Marcus, Domonique, Michael, DeLeon, Trinity, Bless and Amanda.  A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.

On March 21, 2024, she left here and became a citizen of GOD's Glorious Kingdom.

Visitation will take place on Monday April 8, 2024 at the Congdon Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment to be private.
