Jim Sinkus posted a condolence

To Jeannie, Bob, & Jimmy, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Father. He was a beloved man by many people. He surprised me by showing up at my Mom's funeral in Rhinelander in 2004. I last saw him at Mrs. Povich's funeral 5 years ago. Your Dad was a very intelligent and articulate man. I followed in his footsteps and became a photographer. The Sinkus family had many memories of both of your folks at Immanuel's old church in Waukegan. I will miss his annual Christmas card, and that's how we stayed in touch over the years. My most sincere condolences on your loss, as it was a loss for all of us.
May the Lord bless & keep you at this difficult time. We know that your Dad is with your Mom now, and that he is happy again.
Sincerely,
Jim Sinkus

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15 I will always remember how he'd consistently greet me with "God bless you." I will keep praying just as he asked me to do the last time I saw him.

Every time I think of Uncle Bob, I always remember him with a big smile on his face, hearing the joy of his laughter, or the gentle kindness of his voice - and of course, he was always taking pictures!! :) He loved the Lord, he loved his family and he loved his church family at Immanuel Lutheran very much. His dedication and faithfulness to the service of others has always been an inspiration to me in my faith journey. All throughout my childhood, he was a loving positive influence in my life - at family gatherings, at school and church, and at "cousin sleepovers" with Scott and Lisa at his and Marilyn's home. He genuinely exuded a Christ-like servant's heart. My wife and children only met Uncle Bob a few times, like when he hosted/organized the Dretske family reunion or stopped to visit us in Denver while traveling - yet we all shared the same fondness for "Uncle Bob", because his loving, caring spirit was contagious. He was always the first person to send "Happy Birthday!" greetings to Karen, Luke, Sylvia and I. His smile always made us smile! We love you, Uncle Bob!! We celebrate your life! And we send blessings and condolences to all our dear cousins. May the Lord comfort you during this time of loss.
With Love, Mark & Karen & Luke & Sylvia Aalund

Uncle Bob was a special man. Joy and humor are his most memorable traits to me. Each time we talked he had something positive to say. He shared stories about his grandchildren, travels to visit them, church events and bowling triumphs. The photo is from his visit to Durango, Colorado in 2009, when he was 81! Astounding to me how active he was and how many miles he drove to see loved ones around the country. I’m so glad that I was able to speak to him this February. Hearing his chuckle as we joked about getting old will be a lasting and loving memory.
