Obituary of Edward Allen
SFC E7 Edward Allen US Army (Ret.) died peacefully at home on February 24, 2024.
Edward's military career spanned almost 4 decades. He served honorably both in the Air Force and the Army respectfully for 13 years each. As a civilian, he was an instructor at the Great Lakes Naval Station for 14 years. His military career took him all over the world, serving in Asia, Europe and Northern Africa. He received numerous honors and recognition including his time in Vietnam
Edward enjoyed creating gadgets using his skills he learned while in the military. Before his illness took over, at 80, he bought a van and had plans to build his dream RV from scratch. He was proud to be a published author, accomplished his dream of retiring early, and most of all, teaching his father how to read and write.
Edward was preceeded in death by his parents Kenneth Allen and Ruth Allen (nee Samuels), brother Frank Allen, sister Gloria Allen, and son Michael Allen.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward Allen Jr., Charles Allen, Paula Crutcher (Billy), Sharon McGee (Darrin), Grandchildren, Ashley Reynold (JaQuan), Alyssa Allen, Mariah Burch (Josh), Deven Allen (Maria), and Brayden Allen, 5 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be privately held by invitation only at a later time.
