Obituary of Barbara J. Abboud

Barbara J. Abboud, 85, of Wadsworth, IL, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024.

Barb was born December 16, 1938 in Houston Texas.  She graduated from Warren Township Highschool with the class of 1957 and went on to Northern Illinois University for teaching.  She married Louis Abboud on August 20, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan, IL.  Barb and Louie were involved with the Christian Family Movement and Barb was an active member of the Lake County Homemakers Society.  Barb taught at Spaulding school and then spent many years working side-by-side with her husband operating the Harbor Pharmacy in Winthrop Harbor.  Barb was an active member in her church community.  She was a member of St Patrick's Church in Wadsworth where she served as a CCD Teacher, Liturgy Commission, Marriage Preparation, and was an active leader of RCIA for at least 30 years.  Barb was also an active member of the Winthrop Harbor Lioness Club.  She was a cherished wife and  beloved mother of four daughters.

She is survived by her loving husband, Louis Abboud; daughters, Audrey (Bruce) Morris, Amy (John) Hogan, Renee Thornborough, and Julie (David Immel) Abboud; grandchildren, Stephanie, Bradley, Louiza (James), Sean (Melinda), Kate (Justin), Sarah, Claire and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Seanna, Kip, Ace and Lettie; and a sister, Diana (Donald) Day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Martin Marin; sister, Juanita; twin, Beatrice; and son-in-law, Daniel Thornborough.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 15000 W. Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, IL.  Visitation will also be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. Patrick Church.  Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
