Obituary of Edward Ptasienski
Edward “Ed” Ptasienski, 76, of Zion, Illinois passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at home. Ed was born April 18, 1947 in Waukegan, IL at St. Therese Hospital to Peter and Stella Ptasienski.
Ed joined the United States Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1971. Ed earned an associate degree in civil engineering from Gateway College. After working for the Great Lakes Naval Station for 24 and a half years Ed retired from the engineering department. Ed was a member of Our lady of Humility Catholic Church in Beach Park and also a member of Joy Lutheran Church in Grayslake. Ed was a car enthusiast, being a member of Kenosha Car Club, he attended most car shows in the local area. Apart from loving classic cars, Ed was a family man who especially cherished his grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his children, Lisa (Keith) Mertins, Amy (Chris) Isom and Alan Ptasienski; grandchildren, Justin (Katie) Voss, Michael (Kastyn) Mertins, Makenzie Mann, Hannah (Austin) Mertins, Briana (Henry) Mann, Coleman Ptasienski, Makayla Weidener, Jasper, Katie and Matix Ptasienski; six great grandchildren; siblings, Joe (Joyce) Ptasienski, Gene (Blanche) Ptasienski, Annie Massimo, Ceil Stankewicz, Sally (John) Melch, Betty Lewis, Stas (Sharon) Ptasienski, and Lorraine Holland.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Stella Ptasienski and siblings, Peter, Danial, Jules and Dorothy.
Funeral service will take place Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL at 12 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until time of service. Interment to take place at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Per Ed’s wishes, please dress in flannel shirts or Chicago Bears attire and address any memorials to the family.
