Obituary of James Paschal

James (J.D,) Paschal, passed away December 7, 2023. He was born December 9, 1944 in Mexico, Missouri to parents Hellen Slapelton and James Paschal.

James was a devoted Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and Gpa.

He was a man that would give his all to his family. He married his best friend, soul mate, his everything, Shannon. They were married for 60 years. James loved his family dearly. He loved his nieces and nephews as well as his friends children as if they were his own.

James loved to fish and hunt with his brothers and best friend Terrell wellman. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family. James was a great jokester, he always had jokes and stories to tell.

James would do anything for anyone when they needed it, that was just who he was. James had a heart of gold. James will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his wife Shannon Paschal; children; Eva (Ronald) Chess, Laura (Ronald) Upchurch, Jackwalyn (Tony) Jarosz, Debra (Mike) McMahon, Walter Paschal, Virginia Renfro, John (Lillian) Paschal, and Pam (Phil) Hahn; grandchildren, John and Amy Chess, Michael Chess, Tasker and Samantha Upchurch, Cotey Upchurch, James Walldan, Daniel Wallden, Bud and Katelyn Norton, James Norton, Kurt McMahon, and Matthew McMahon; great grandchildren, Fisher and Coral Chess, Gavin Skylar, Alleah and Paisley Upchurch, Ethan and Isabel Wallden, Aubry, Ryland and Lilly Mae Norton.

James was proceeded in death by his daughter Leesa Walldan; sisters Deanna Good and Shara (Luky) Jeffries; parents James and Hellen Paschal; and sister-in-law Glenda Paschal.

Visitation will take place at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a service a 7:00 PM.
