Obituary of Bernard Pelzl
Bernard "Bernie" Pelzl, 84, of Beach Park, died on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Vista Medical Center East.
Bernie was born July 25, 1922 in Richland County, North Dakota, the youngest of ten children, and has lived in the Zion area since 1954. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the Marines in the Pacific Theater where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He worked for 25 years at North Shore Gas Company, retiring as the Transportation Manager. He was a life-member of both the VFW and the American Legion. Bernie loved his family and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Hulda; children Joyce (John) Witmer of Houston, Texas, Dale (Linda) Pelzl of Ringwood, Illinois and Karen Pelzel Stashek of Minnesota; three grandchildren Katherine (Mark) Williams, Michelle (Matthew) Nauertz, and Michael (Tricia) Pelzl; two great-grandchildren Colin and Kyla Nauertz; and one sister Margaret Fettes of Butte, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Pelzl.
Services will be private for the family.
