Obituary of Ronald L. Hartke

Ronald L. Hartke, 83, of Waukegan, IL, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL.

Ronald was born January 11, 1940 in Chicago, IL.  He graduated from Waukegan Township High School with the class of 1958.  He married Linda Mordhorst and together they had 3 children.  He proudly served with the United States Army Reserves from 1958 until 1966.  Ronald worked for Jewel-Osco and then for Palmen Motors of Kenosha.  He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan, IL.  Ron loved to drive and enjoyed road trips that took him to all 50 states and Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Hartke; children, John (Lisa) Hartke, and Jeff (Katie) Hartke; daughter-in-law, Nora Hartke; grandchildren, Jeff, Krystal, TJ, Alyssa, Cody, Lily, Matt, Alex, DJ, Christopher and Mike; six great-grandchildren, siblings, Carol Helm, Ken (Cheryl) Hartke, JoAnn, and Dave (Judy) Hartke; and several niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dick Hartke; and a son, Jim Hartke.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL.  A second visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 Grove Avenue, Waukegan, IL.  A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Inurnment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.
