My name is Bernice Henke. Our daughter, Barbara was in Tech Academy with your son as well as had him as a partner much of the time in Adventure Ed. She was so saddened, as we all were, to hear of Jack's death. He is indeed a hero, a wonderful young man who loved what he did and gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He will forever be in our hearts and minds, and my husband Herman and I, as well as our daughter Barbara, will be praying for you and your family for peace and comfort during this sad time. God bless you and if we can do anything for you at any time, please do not hesitate to contact any of us. Thank you for Jack and for all that he stood for!

It is never easy when a family member is lost, unexpectedly or otherwise. Jack has many family members left here on the Frank Cable, who owe him a debt of gratitude for everything he did that night to ensure the safety of others. Every day, Sailors continue to wear a uniform, carrying on the proud traditions of those, like Jack, who came before. To your family: Thank You, and to MRFN Valentine: You stand relieved shipmate, we have the watch.
