Obituary of Freida B Stickle

Freida B. (Phy) Stickle went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 18, 2023. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 25, 1926 in Algood, TN to Ershel and Nellie (Gilliam) Phy. Her greatest virtue was that she was a Godly woman who loved her family. She took her role as “keeper of the home” seriously. She was a member of the Gospel Crusaders Church in Akron, Ohio since 1952.

Freida is survived by her daughters, Karen (Les) Martin, Kathie (Bob) Mandi, and Vickie (Mick) Gorsek; grandchildren, David (Dana) Martin, Daniel (Angela) Martin, Deborah (Dan) Scoggin, Dallis Martin, Joe (Rachel) Mandi, Megan (Jimmy) Lee, Kristin Mandi, Gina (Jason Jette) Gorsek, Tony (Tanesha) Gorsek, Jesse (Leanne Kennedy) Gorsek; great-grandchildren, Mason, Payton, Seth, Reagan, Zachariah, Benjaman, Fiona, Ethan and Owen and one brother, Merrill Phy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John V. Stickle of 58 years; parents; brothers, Carl and Russell Phy, and sisters, Martha Lou Phy and Lee Nora (Phy) Henry.

Visitation will take place Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Congdon Funeral Home from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 5:00 p.m.. Another funeral service will be held Friday morning, August 25, 2023 in Copley, Ohio at Hummel Funeral Home. Interment to take place at Copley Cemetery.
