Obituary of Cheryl A. Russell

Cheryl Ann Russell, age 66, of Zion, IL passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 unexpectedly in her sleep at her home with her husband by her side. She is now with her Lord and Savior and many loved ones.

She was born on August 7, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Edward and Louise Marie (Kelly) Lasek.

Cheryl was raised in Deerfield, IL. She grew up with her brother Tom who was her greatest support growing up. Cheryl had many hobbies, but most importantly loved being an Amateur Radio operator (call sign K9BIK) along with David (call sign K9LPK). They enjoyed many conventions and enjoyed spending time with their Amateur Radio community and friends. She was a member of the Bob Heil K9EID Ham Nation on twit.tv, Lake County Races (Emergency Response) and North Shore Radio Club. 

Cheryl was hard working. She worked many years at Ameritech. Most recently she loved her job as a Communications Specialist at both AbbVie & Abbott. She really loved the community at Abbott and considered it her second family. Cheryl was known to be a makeup connoisseur and loved to watch makeup tutorials and find new ways to apply her makeup and skin care. She was also very interested in finding holistic ways to treat many ailments to stay as healthy as can be (for herself and many others) for over 35 years.

Cheryl is survived by her beloved soulmate and devoted husband, David C. Russell, step-sons Ryan Russell of Hanover Park, IL, Joshua Russell of Madison, WI, step-daughter Danielle (James) Gowler of Elgin, IL; step-grandchildren Leah, Emma, Andrew and Ava Gowler and Timothy Russell; brother-n-law Daniel Russell, sister-in-law Teresa (Bob Hayden) Mounsey and sister-n-law Deann (Jim Hofmann) Russell; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear beloved friends.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Doris (Phillips) Lasek, her brother Tom Lasek, father-in-law Billy J. Russell, mother-in-law June L. Russell and step-son Jonathan Russell.

A visitation will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL 60099 on Friday, August 18 2023. Visitation will start at 4:00PM with the Celebration of Life service starting at 7:00PM.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive Brookfield, WI 53005 at 10:30AM. Following the graveside service, the family invites you to join them at a luncheon in Milwaukee proper. Luncheon details to be determined and will provided at the graveside service.
