Darlene Sykes, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 31, 1958 Darlene lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Darlene is survived by her devoted husband, Herb Sykes, who was her unwavering source of strength and support throughout their incredible journey together. Their love and commitment were an inspiration to all who witnessed it.
She leaves behind her loving children, Nelson (Michelle) and Evita, who were the light of her life. Darlene's unconditional love and guidance shaped their lives, instilling in them values of kindness, resilience, and compassion. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them.
Darlene's joy extended to her grandchildren, Vince, Vamaya, and Gianna, who brought immense happiness into her life. She was their biggest cheerleader and her love and encouragement will forever remain in their hearts.
Darlene also shared a special bond with her siblings: Diane, Lynette (Lawrence), Charlotte, Margaret, and Herman. Their strong family ties were a constant source of support, laughter, and shared memories. Darlene's passing leaves an irreplaceable void in their lives, but her love will continue to resonate through their cherished family connections.
Darlene's warm and compassionate nature touched the lives of countless nieces and nephews, who were privileged to call her aunt. Her kind heart, wisdom, and nurturing spirit were gifts that will be remembered by each and every one of them.
Darlene will forever be remembered for her genuine kindness, radiant smile, and unwavering love for her family. She had an unlimited loving soul, and her warm presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Darlene's life will be held on June 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home located at 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099. Friends and family will gather to honor her memory and pay their respects at 10:00 am to the time of the service. Following the service, a burial will take place at Warren Cemetery, located at 1475 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.
While we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary individual, we take solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her family and loved ones find comfort in the knowledge that Darlene Sykes touched the lives of many and will forever be cherished in our hearts.
