Obituary of Keith Allan Zika

Keith Allan Zika passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at his home in Antioch, IL.

Keith was born January 30, 1958 in Lake County IL, son of the late Bill and Dolores (Miller) Zika.

He grew up in Winthrop Harbor alongside his four sisters: Victoria, Kathleen, Kari, and Trisha and his brother Kim. He attended Zion Benton Township High School and graduated in 1976. He worked various jobs using his strong mechanical knowledge until eventually becoming self-employed running his own successful online sales business.

Keith was generous and kind to all those that he worked with and befriended. Those lucky enough to know him knew his love of the outdoors was evident by his various hobbies including fishing, maple syrup processing, foraging, metal detecting, motorcycle rides, and looking for sea glass washed up on the shore of Lake Michigan. In his youth he made many great memories at Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas. Later in life he visited Alaska where he was able to pan for gold and deep sea fish for halibut.

Keith was full of dad jokes that Laffy Taffy and popsicle sticks could easily claim as their own. He often said that his kids must have known when nap time was because that’s exactly when they would call, waking him up. At least now, he can finally rest in peace.

Keith is survived by his children, Anna (Billy) McDermott and Garrett (Amanda) Zika and the two people he adored the most, his grandchildren, Madeline and Emma Zika. Their memories of him will be cherished.
