Obituary of Ollie Brace

Ollie M. Brace,74, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at home with her family at her side. Ollie was born July 12, 1932 in Itawamba County, MS, and married Ernie Brace on September 22, 1964, in Winthrop Harbor. She retired from the Sara Lee Corporation, Deerfield, IL, in 1989. Ollie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a strong woman with a soft heart and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ernie Brace; children, Brenda (Guy) Braun of Jerome, MI, Denice (James "Max) Maxfield of Phoenix, AZ, and Lisa (Billy) Orrick of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren, Vincent Covolo-Braun, Joslin Oatsvall, Brian Orrick, Amanda, Rachel and Michael Gilmore; step-grandson, Erik Maxfield; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaden, Drew, Joselyn and Dominic; sister, Elvie Grissom of MS; brothers, John (Maureen) Hamm of AZ, and Jim (Alice) Hamm of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Gilmore in 2000; her grandchildren, Vaughn and Vanessa Covolo; her father and mother, Milas and Hattie Hamm; and several brothers and sisters. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Michael Brown of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
