Obituary of Robert Summers

Robert 'Bob-Pop' Summers,80,of Beach Park,Il passed away on December 31,2022.Bob was born on September 19,1942 in Boston Massachusetts the son of Robert and Sally Summers. Bob went to schools out east and after high school he joined the u.s navy and was stationed at great lakes naval station where he met his loveing wife and companion of over 60 years.Bob was stationed over seas and loved to ski there.After his military service he moved to lake county and joined the lake county workforce and was a proud member of the teamsters union.Bob eventually retired from the V.A.hospital after many years of service,his work ethic was second to none.Bob was a huge sports fan and embraced all Chicago teams.His love for sports and life were shared with many.Bob had many hobbies includeing playing his guitar,sports,traveling and most of all rideing his bicycle through out Lake County and along lake michigan,the Mississippi River and out east when he visited.Bob lived a very simple life and had amazeing positive attitude.his laughter,conversations and outlook on life will be missed by many.                                                                                             

He is survived by sisters Susie(Tom) brownell of Randolph,VT.Nancy(Stuart) Shipper of Farmington,NH, loveing wife and companion of over 60 years Dixie Summers,sons Robert(Paula) Summers of Marysville WA,Rick(Cyndi) Summers of Kenosha WI,Ron(Trisha) Summers of Zion, IL daughter Dixie Summers of Kenosh WI,grandchildren Haley(Taylor) Freeman of Monroe,WA,Tyler Summers of Marysville,WA,Tonya Summers of Kenosha,WI,Amber Summers of Iowa,Ronny Summers of Zion,IL,Tabitha Davis of Kenosha,many nieces and nephews and friends and very best friend 'Andy' O from Zion,IL, and his good buddy'homz.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandson Josh Summers,parents Robert and Sally Summers and brother Henry Summers.    

 

A private service will be held by family at a future date.
