Charles Heberer, 78, passed away on December 12, 2022. He was born on February 2, 1944 in Tampa, Florida was the son of Charles Heberer and Sara Lovejoy.
Charles married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Friedly, at Stover Methodist Church on August 23, 1964, before getting his Master's degree in music education at the University of Missouri. He was a band director for an elementary and high school before teaching his passion for music at the United States Disciplinary Baracks in Leavenworth, Kansas. He then transferred to the US Naval Base in Great Lakes, IL and worked in Curriculum Development for thirty years before retiring.
Charles had a large passion for baseball; he was a huge Cardinals fan, as well as a T-Ball coach. He enjoyed playing ping pong, and going fishing. Charles hosted Hot Stove Leagues, was in church choir, and was a private music intructor.
Charles is survived by his wife Margaret Heberer; children Julia (John) Bucchi, Karen Case; grandchildren Matthew (Erika) Case, Zachary Brown, Michael (Caroline) Case, Marcus Case; sister Joy (Pete) Peterson; nephews Lance Turner, Michael Turner; three grandcats; and four granddogs.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charles Sr and Sara Heberer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 10:00 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road., Zion, IL 60099. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet, 1436 Kenosha Road, Zion, IL 60099.
