Obituary of Jane Francis

Jane Francis Cowart (Gonzales), age 82 of Winthrop Harbor IL., passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday November 22, 2022 at 11:30 am surrounded by her loved ones. Jane was born July 4,1940 in Elmendorl, TX to Benito Gonzales and Angelita Carranza. Her family moved from San Antonio to Wisconsin in 1947. For the last 45 years she has resided in Winthrop Harbor. Jane retired from Abbott Labs. after many years of service. She was a loving woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, going to estate sales, and the holidays.

Survivors include her only daughter Brenda (Patrick) Hill of Winthrop Harbor, II. sons David (Shelly) Francis of Zion, IL. and John (Hope) Francis of Waukegan, II. Sisters Estella Malacara of San Antonio,Tx, Angel (Frank) Shmidt of Wausau, Wi. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and her special friend Louis Widner.

She is reunited in heaven with her husband Gene “Bill” Cowart; her mother Angelita, father Benito; her brother Arturo Gonzales;sisters, Lupe Anchondo, Margaret Gonzalez;and her grandson John “JJ” Francis.

Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park Zion, IL.
