Obituary of George Houston

George Richard Houston, 82, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, died on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at St Joseph's Home. George was born January 13, 1929 in Chicago. After graduating high school in Chicago, George served his country with the United States Army and returned to attend school to become a Plumbers Apprentice. On June 5, 1982 he married Edith Wendy at Salem United Methodist Church, a church he became active in having served on various committees. He retired with over 50 years with Plumbers Local #130. George was also a member of Westosha Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife Edith Wendy Houston; one daughter Sherri (Dennis) Ohlinger of Zion; two step-children Lisa Shoemaker (Robin) Baronsky of Kenosha, WI and Michele Shoemaker of Waukesha, WI; six grandchildren Stanley (Katie) Sakolowski, Tammy (Mark) Kurylo, Samantha Baronsky, Ryan Baronsky, Maria Baronsky, and Jacquelyn Solum; six great-grandchildren; and one brother Donald (Judy) Houston of Bloomingdale, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Richard and Bernice (nee Hazelwood) Houston. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16. 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, Pastor Mary Lou Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Newport Township. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory have been suggested.
