Obituary of John Love

John T. Love, 86, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

John was born July 23, 1936 in Piney Flats, Tennessee.  He attended Bob Jones University and Moody Bible Institute.  John married Kathryn Whitright on September 11, 1976 in Middlebrook, Virginia.  John was a family man and loved being "Poppa", an avid Green Bay Packers fan and had a passion for ministering to children’s groups and residents of long-term care facilities.  His ministries included serving as chaplain at Carmel House in Zion, The Grove at the Lake, Barton Senior Residences and Awana Club at Lakeview Church.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathryn; children, Jeff (Debbie) Love, Angela Cardinal, Robin (Debbie) Love, April (Anthony) Zorc, and Linda (Dale) Johnston; grandchildren, Josiah Love, Aaron Love, Lance VanCleve, Kyle (Tara) Cardinal, Cara (Kyle) Derry, Matt (Heidi) Cardinal, Dustin Cardinal, Hailey Love, Jordan Love, Kaiden Love, Jennifer Kunard, Mark Peel, Summer Mateus, Adrianna Zorc, Crystal (Nathan Beguhn) Johnston, Brittany Dix, and Jonathan Dix; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Logan, Addison, Camden, Emerson, Cadence, Leighton, Cooper, Reed, Avery, Leo; great-grandchild, Kameron; and a brother, David Love.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest Love and Kenneth Love; sister, Mary Ruth Cantrell; grandson, Israel; and son-in-law, Michael Cardinal.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Mt.
