Obituary of Lisa A Strange

Beloved mother and wife Lisa Ann Strange, age 65, of Beach Park IL passed into eternal life on Sunday night, September 4, 2022. Lisa was born on July 19, 1957, in Lake Forest, Illinois, the daughter of Helen and Leo Guokas. She grew up alongside her brother Mike, developed a passion for swimming from an early age and enjoyed cooking, boating and horse-riding. After graduating from Waukegan High School, Lisa went on to earn a B.A. in Education from DePaul University, then completed an MSc in Education from Quincy University. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and loved to swim at the Illinois Beach Park Lodge with her family.

The life of Lisa Strange was embodied by the words ‘Love’, ‘Kindness’ and ‘Service’. She was a constant source of unconditional love and strength to her husband, a loving caretaker for her Mother and granddaughter, a wellspring of humor and laughter that always inspired joy in her sons and grandchildren. Her profound patience, compassion for all those she cared for, and her masterful skill of cooking meant that in life she was always a nucleus of love around which her family could gather and warm hearth to which all could return home.

Lisa is survived by her beloved husband Steve Strange, with whom she shared a blessed marriage of 33 years. She is also survived by her mother Helen Hart, brother Mike (Char) Guokas, sons Clifford (Eliana) Borowicz, John (Dani) Borowicz, and Zackery (Jennifer) Strange, as well as her grandchildren Isabella, Khloe, Noa, and Elijah. Her legacy of love will resound in the hearts of everyone she touched in her life.

A remembrance service for Lisa is scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 12 noon at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL, officiated by Pastor Kwadwo Ntim. Visitation will take place from 10:00 – 12:00 PM. All family, friends and those who knew her are invited to reminisce and share their stories.
