Uncle John was a wonderful role model and supporter of his nephew, my husband, Samuel Owens. Even after he retired he continued to fight for Sam to receive benefits to which he was entitled because he suffered with multiple rare forms of cancer caused by his service in the Navy during the Viet Nam War. He continued to talk to and encourage Sam until his final hospitalization. We will miss him more than I can ever state. He was a truly wonderful man.
