Grandpa was the only grandfather I knew. He was kind, loving, and so witty.
He always had a cleaver comment. He loved to give us a hard time for new age styles and technology. One of my favorite Grandpa-isms was when I wore ripped jeans to his house when I was 16 and he told me he would buy me a whole pair of pants if my dad couldn't afford them.
Even when we were younger, we use to drive up every summer from Tennessee and stay with Grandma and Grandpa for a week or so every summer. Every morning (that Will and I weren't at the Wilder house) we would wake up and go into the kitchen, which always smells like fresh brewed coffee, and have cheerios with cut banana because that's what Grandpa would have. Similarly, every dinner was accompanied by a tall glass of milk. And a joke about our obsessive use of Tony's seasoning.

My greatest fondness of Mr. Habenicht was his incredible sense of humor. I have always cherished the memory of when myself, my neighbor Juan Carlos, and my cousin Fernando came to pick up his sons, Joe and Mark, whilst donning cool hats from the Forties era. The first thing he exclaimed when he saw us was “Hey, it’s the Mexican Mafia!”. His booming hearty laughter filled the room and our souls that moment forever. I am still proud to wear that moniker. God Speed George.

I have such fond memories of Mr. H. He always greeted me with a great big smile and a "Hello Leets". He's the only one I know that gave me a nickname and I will always cherish it.
RIP. Make a big batch of Ingun killers and soar with the angels.
