Obituary of William Taylor

William R. Taylor went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL to Reid and Bernadette Taylor in 1935. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Illinois Champaign in the engineering program for several years before entering the army in 1958. He resided in the Chicago area until he relocated to Waukegan in 1962, where he became a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. There, Bill learned what it meant to have a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. On July 20, 1968, Bill married Carol B. Walters in Kenosha, WI. Soon after, they moved to Addison, IL, where Bill began his employment with Commonwealth Edison. He and Carol remained in Addison until late 1971 when they moved into their new home in Grayslake, which Bill designed. Bill and Carol enjoyed biking, day trip excursions, and traveling. In Spring of 1972, their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Beth, followed by the births of two more daughters, Cherie and Jeannine. Bill was a faithful provider and protector of his family. In 1985, the family began attending the Village Church of Gurnee, where Bill became actively involved in the trustee and ushering ministries. Bill undertook many projects. Each one, he entered into with meticulousness and precision. He could regularly be seen cutting the lawn on his Ransomes Bobcat. Bill taught himself, without the aid of YouTube, to work on the car, computer, and every appliance and gadget available throughout his adult life. He became very skilled in using spreadsheets. He also was well known for his extremely organized collection of old movies. In more recent years, some of Bill’s favorite activities included lunch at his favorite restaurants, viewing classic Hallmark movies, listening to Turning Point with David Jeremiah on TV, watching Beth play the piano online for her church service, and hearing Carol and Beth play hymns on the piano at home. Bill is survived by his wife, Carol, his 3 daughters Beth Heiliger, Cherie Lopez (Steven), and Jeannine Medina (Ray). His 5 grandchildren include Andrew Heiliger, Rachel Heiliger, Blake Heiliger, Micah Medina, and Jayden Medina. Bill was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his Lord and his family. He will be greatly missed. The visitation will be at the Village Church of Gurnee on Friday, April 29, at 12:00 pm, followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 pm.
