Obituary of Marlin Taylor Jr
Marlin Taylor Junior, 79, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022 at Vista Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Marlin was born May 30, 1942 in Hamilton, AL.
Marlin Taylor, better known as Bo, was raised by his father, Marlin Taylor Sr. and his grandparents, Benjamin and Elzora Taylor on a farmstead in Hamilton, Alabama. In the summer of 1987 Bo came to live with his aunt Dorothy Taylor, and cousin Benny and his wife of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
Bo loved attending North Point Achievement Center in Zion, Illinois. He attended religiously for 35 plus years and won countless awards including: Worker of the month, Worker of the Year and was recognized numerous times for his merit and achievement.
Bo’s favorite hobby was going fishing with Benny, who was more like a brother. He also loved to tag along with Benny to the Cheese Shack to buy lottery tickets and get a candy bar.
Bo enjoyed getting the mail, taking care of the dogs, mowing the lawn, riding his bike, and talking to the neighbors of the Oaks Subdivision in Winthrop Harbor. He enjoyed living with his aunt, Linda Taylor and her daughter, Laura and Bob Gergely, and their children, Taylor and Logan. Bo easily made friends everywhere he went.
Bo was preceded in death by his father, Marlin Taylor Sr.; grandparents, Benjamin and Elzora Taylor; uncle, Seldon and aunt, Dorothy Taylor; cousin, Benny Taylor and Diane Griffith
Bo is survived by his family, cousin Linda Taylor; Laura (Bob) Gergely, Shera (Charles) Smith, and Sandra (Howard) Davis, and Tim Taylor; second cousins, Taylor and Logan Gergely; great-aunt, Gloria Smith; and a host of family and friends here in Illinois and Alabama.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bycroft, officiating. Please join us after the service at Stone Creek Grill in Winthrop Harbor for dinner.
