Obituary of Violet Saam

Violet, Ann Saam, 78, of Gurnee, IL passed away surrounded by her family on March 3, 2022. Violet was born on September 5, 1943 in Catawba, WI, the daughter of Charles and Emma (nee Hahn) Erdmann. Violet married her husband Matthew Paul Saam on May 19, 2007 at Wesley Free Methodist Church in Waukegan, IL. Violet worked for Baxter Corporation, and retired after working there for over thirty years. Following retirement she enjoyed traveling to Door County making lasting memories with her husband. Violet's greatest passion and love was her family. Bringing the family together during the holidays was always a priority. This was especially true on Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved. Violet’s lemon meringue pie and macaroni and cheese were family favorites. Violet leaves behind her husband, Matthew; children, Diane Erdmann, William (Marlyn) O'Connor, Susan (David) Ekkela; grandchildren, Kristina Wilkins, Joshua O'Connor, Sean Courtney Erdmann-McNally, Autumn Ekkela, Joshua Jackson-Torres; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Ryder, Kasen; siblings, Doris Demers, Raymond (Anita) Erdmann, David (Miki) Erdmann; many nieces,nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Erdmann; parents; and sisters, Rose, Donna, Arlene, Dolores, and Bernice. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3601 N Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL 60087. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
