Obituary of Billy Ray Jones
Billy Ray Jones, 57, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away suddenly at his home in Winthrop Harbor, IL, on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Billy was born on Good Friday, March 27, 1964, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL to Lowell and Dorothy Jones. Billy graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in Zion, IL in 1982. Billy went on to work for IFC, formerly American Fiber Velope, as a Machine Adjuster before being promoted to Shipping and Receiving in 1990. Billy left IFC in 1997 and began a career as an over the road truck driver for Cal-Ark, Martin Transportation, Roadway, JDC, and Millis Transport. In 2005, he left trucking and went back to school, graduating from the Chicago Professional Center with certification in HVAC/Electrician, Electric Motor Maintenance and PLC Technician. He then became the Production Manager for Pacific Abrasive in Waukegan, IL in 2005, until he became disabled. Billy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, playing chess and watching any movies that were westerns, had fast cars or a lot of action. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, kind and giving heart, and his storytelling. Billy will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Hannah Stastny of Kenosha, WI; mother, Dorothy Jones of Winthrop Harbor, IL; sisters Dorothy (Rob) Huston of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Carol (David) Neff of Chattanooga, TN, Susan Jones of Kenosha, WI, and Melinda (Joe) Minors of Kenosha, WI; Aunts Carol (James) Smith of Black River Falls, WI, Grace Coman of Tomah WI, and Polly (Bill) Marsh of Lansing, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Jones; grandparents John and Alice Jones and Logan and Beatrice McLamarrah; as well as many aunts and uncles he loved dearly.
In honor of his request, there are no services planned for Billy.
