Obituary of Michael Galayda

Michael J. Galayda, 24, of Zion, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2006, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, after battling Ewing's sarcoma for 15 months. Michael was born September 29, 1981, in Alpena, MI, and was a 2000 graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. He also received a degree in Criminal Justice and English in 2005 from the College of Lake County. Michael was employed for the Circuit Court of Lake County. Besides enjoying video games, Star Wars, movies and classic cars, Michael was given the gift to put a smile on everyone's face and make them laugh. He is survived by his father and mother, Michael and Patricia Galayda of Zion; sister, JoAnna Galayda of Zion; grandfather, Michael Galayda of West Frankfort, IL; grandmother, Jeanne Baumflek of Muskegon, MI; and numerous aunts and uncles and cousins. . He was preceded in death by grandparents, Stella and Walter Szychulda. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 29, 2006 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion. Interment is private for the family. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
