For me, there are almost no words for this. After all, how do you say “Goodbye” to someone – when you haven’t actually come to terms with the fact that they are gone? What a wonderful Uncle you were……a loving brother to your siblings ……….the world’s best father to my cousins and in my daughter’s words “the bestest, most wonderfulest, most magnificent Grandpa ever!” (My kids called him grandpa Jim)
We are all blessed for having known you. For having loved you and been loved by you. To be able to say this with so much pride and gratitude, we are a blessed family indeed. You came. You conquered all our hearts. Lived life to the fullest. Your being here – on this earth, in this world, mattered. You have left us with a beautiful legacy. You were always so lively and so warm and so loving that I suppose I just took your being around for granted. I have so many memories of you and the girls growing up. I will cherish the time that we had with you and the amazing memories that you have left behind. I will miss how you always made everyone laugh almost to the point of injury!
Sleep well, Uncle.

I called Jim to my house after I attempted my own plumbing repair and was left with a big hole in my pipe and no water. He saved the day. He also replaced an outside water spigot that I broke off at work. Every time I met Jim he was upbeat and energetic. There are many people in this world that we meet and soon forget. James Erickson was not one of them. He left a lasting impression. I know he will be missed dearly.

I read these memories and bawl because I know how many people loved him. He was not an uncle or blood relative but jimmy and his family have always been family to us. My dad (jimmy) said almost 50 years of friendship they had. I loved their stories, their laughs .. I’ll miss the most to see how my dad and brother crack up to his lame jokes -that they all had the same humor. Jimmy always helped with this old a** house I have. And we always had fun from being a young kid at their pool \house. Him and Janice … a true love match.. true definition of love … she left her shoes at my wedding, I was wondering who’s slender long shoes are these? .. he said let me bring my Cinderella her slippers…. I know he’s loving it up with the lord telling us he’s ok but a lot of hearts broke With him leaving. He loved his grand babies he told me his beer DAB
Stood for his grand daughters initials which melted my heart- that was last Friday The last time we would enjoy his company -on dads bday - rest easy jimmy .. I’ll try to keep dad n Sam in line lol .. rest peacefully jimmy you are missed tremendously

Uncle Jimmy, I am going to miss you so much.
You meant so much to so many people, including me. Even though I lived out of state, you made the effort to see me right away when we came into town, always cracking a joke and singing a song and having a huge smile on your face. When you came to visit us in Ohio when I was younger, we had such a great time (even though Mandy opened up your Batman toy). When my dad passed away, you were the first one there. You broke all of the speed limits to get to us to make sure we were okay. Batman was your superhero, but you were my hero then and became my hero all of the years that followed. Thank you for passing on your love of the Bears, the Cubs, and music to me. I am so glad that you got to see me get married and we got to share a dance in memory of my dad. I know he will be so happy to see his brother once again and that he can have someone up there to pick on him and watch games with. Rest in paradise, Uncle Jimmy. I’ll see you again some day.

One word, inspirational. Your passion for what you loved was undeniable. All your years of losing cubs baseball, all your years of terrible bears football, and all your years of awful music listening just to tell everyone else how wrong their taste was and how right yours was. I loved every minute of it. The best games weren’t the ones that the bears/cubs won, it was the ones we watched together and always had the greatest of times. Super Bowls, cookouts, and family parties just won’t be the same anymore. Hearing the deep cuts from the next album I listen to just won’t sound the same. The next joke that I hear won’t have the same laughter to it as it always had. I loved the way you lived your life and that’s a lesson that I will never forget. Live in the moment, live for the now, and always live it up. I love you uncle jimmy. Rest easy

Whenever anyone would refer to Jimmy in my house growing up it was always Jimmy and Janice. Together. A pair. You would rarely hear one name without the other. I’m sending my deepest condolences and love to Janice and all the family. I admire how close you all are and I am so sorry for this heartbreak.
I’ll remember the way he would always be smiling from ear to ear at any family function, singing a song at any moment in time or just speaking loud enough for everyone to hear!
Jimmy you will be missed.
Love, Nicole Willford and family

Oh Mr Erickson....how i will miss you. My fondest memories are of you and Dad...cracking jokes about each other. Insults that turned into roaring laughter. Hot summer days sitting in Dads tool shed, having a cold one and listening to music. How you both gasped when i said i didnt know who John Prine was!! It was always so hard to leave when jokes were hot and so funny!! You and my Dad ( jimmy Stanfel) were thick as theives and i always enjoyed listening to you two talk about your youth together.... im so glad i was able to see you one last time on New Years.... you were part of our family, like so many others...you brought so much joy...i love you man... Love Jimmys rotten daughter, Heidi

I’m go to miss you Big Brother. I love you sooo much. I’m going to miss your jokes, I’m going to miss you singing in my face as loud as you could while dancing the whole time. I’m going to miss running after the train with a cooler full just to make it to make to the concert in time. I’m going to miss you ignoring the world while reading your favorite comic book. I’m going to miss you going to the toy isles to find a new superhero you don’t have, which isn’t many.
I’m going to miss listening to you yelling at the Bears and Cubs and calling the referee names that shouldn’t be listed here. I’m going to miss you showing up at my door anytime night or day with a huge ass smile on your face. Jimmy you were a major part of my life for the past 52 years and I’m really going to miss him beyond what words could describe. Love you and thank you for being my big brother my protector for the past 52 years……tell Kelly I miss him as well as the rest of the family. RIP ‘Dr. Plumer”. Love your “little sister”
