Obituary of Ruth Hens

Ruth A. Hens, 78, of Zion, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 in Libertyville, IL. Ruth was born September 3, 1943 in Waukegan, IL to Merritt and Lillian (Meyer) Sperry. She graduated from Zion Benton Township High School and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Zion. Ruth was a member of Red Hats, Garden Club and Bowling Club. She loved bike riding, hiking, playing games and going to the beach. Ruth is survived by her children, Sandy (Dennis) Cook and Vicki (Mike) Howard; grandchildren, Sierra (Courtland) Hanson, Tristin Cook, Brad Howard, Tyler Howard and Megan Howard; and siblings, Earl Sperry and Elaine (Sperry) Phipps. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene Glasgow; and brother, Jack Sperry. A Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 Kenosha Rd., Zion, IL 60099 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, in Ruth's name, to Camp Zion, P.O. Box 32 Ellison Bay, WI. 54210.
