Obituary of Betty Sunday
Betty Sunday, 91, of Waukegan, IL passed away on December 1, 2021 at home. She was born on May 8, 1930 to the late Jack and Mary (Nagode) Ogrin. She was a lifetime resident of Waukegan and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1948. She worked for many years as a cost accountant at Johns Manville on the Waukegan lakefront where she met her late husband Earl Sunday.
In her spare time, Betty enjoyed cooking, jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, cribbage, playing the accordion, sports radio, and watching football. She was well known among family and friends for her award winning strawberry jam and love of dogs. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.
Betty is survived by her two children: Scott Sunday and Earleen (Sunday) Johnson, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, and one sibling Marceile (Ogrin) Mohr preceded her in death.
A private funeral will be held for immediate family at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion. In lieu of gifts, donations to Save-A-Pet or Orphans of the Storm pet shelters are appreciated.
