Obituary of Betty Jane Smith

Betty Jane Smith, 86, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Rolling Hills Manor. Betty was born March 21, 1935 in Tarentum, PA to Joseph and Anna Martz. She was a prior resident of Natrona Heights, PA. In 1956 she married Warren C. Smith; together they shared 45 years of marriage until his passing in 2001. Betty was a seamstress who enjoyed creating beautiful prom dresses and wedding dresses. She was an avid reader, and loved all kinds of crafts such as macrame, knitting, and crocheting. She participated in craft shows where she shared her creations with others. Betty enjoyed caring for her friends grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Betty”. Betty is survived by her son, Warren D. (Rosemary) Smith; brother, James (Elsie) Martz; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dee, Alene and Linda and their families; and her beloved poodle, Tara. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and several brothers and sisters. Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
