Obituary of Linda M. Smith

Linda Smith, 74, of Beach Park, IL, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Linda was born November 6, 1946 in Waukegan, IL to Lynyrd and Mary Ahern. She married William Poindexter in Waukegan in 1966, and then married John Smith in Kenosha WI. Linda was a graduate of ZBTHS and later worked for Cherry Electric and retired after 34 years of dedicated service. Linda took pleasure in zip lining, nature hikes, and gazing at butterflies. Linda loved all things lavender. Linda is survived by her daughters, Donna Poindexter and Jeanine Chattard (Louis); Son, Stacy (Christine) Poindexter; and two step-children, Gordon Smith and Johnna Smith; grandchildren, Russell, Cheyenne, Michael J, Delano, Jalen ,Calvin, Dylan, Coral, Gavin, Michael A, Seth, Travis, Brandon, and Emma; two sisters, Rosemary and Naomi; 17 great-grandchildren; sister and best friend, Toni Ahern; cousin Cal Ladewig; and a sister-in-law, Kay Willis. She was preceded in death by her son, Willie; grandson, Randy; daughter, Penny; two brothers; a sister; her parents; and her husband, John. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL.
