Obituary of Marceil Stried

Marceil V Stried, 98 died Sunday, August 8, 2021. She was a resident of Zion, IL. She was born April 26, 1923 in Zion, IL to John & Lora Kurrasch of Zion, IL. She graduated from Zion Benton High School in 1941. She then attended Beauty School and worked in her Aunt Gustie’s shop until a year after she was married. She continued to do hair for family members in her home. She was a good baker & had a green thumb with plants. She was a stay at home Mom for most of her life being a Girl Scout leader, helping with grandchildren and enjoying the stray cats around the neighborhood. She married Vernon Stried on March 1, 1942 who preceded her in death May 18, 1987. Survivors include a son, Richard (Marcie) Stried, daughters Karen Steph, Gail (Toy) Keeton; six grandchildren, Gary (Naty)Golubski, Marie Golubski-Allen, Lora (Brandon) Niemet, Eric Stried, Kyle Keeton, & Katrina Keeton; 7 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bernard Kurrasch. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home located at 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL 60099. Burial will be at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Zion, IL.
