Obituary of Dorothy Phemister

Dorothy Phemister Obituary of Pleasant Prairie, passed away at the age of 99 surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Dorothy was born on July 21, 1922, in Lancaster, WI to Harvey and Claira Julius. She married Virgus Phemister on June 15, 1942 and shared three children together. Dorothy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor, IL. She was employed as a crossing guard and the grade school lunch program as well as laundry mats. She enjoyed being a member of JM Auxiliary Club, bowling leagues, and Little Fort Campers.Dorothy had a passion for sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and playing games while visiting with family and friends. She loved making hand-made gifts and cookies for birthday and Christmas presents. She is survived by her three children Sherrie (Junior) Swindle, Shirlie Russell, and Vern Phemister. As well as eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Virgus Phemister, parents Harvey and Claira Julius, three brothers Kenny, Elmer, and Lavern Julius, two sisters Leona Kirkman and Velma Bose, three brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 5-8pm at Congdon Funeral Home located at 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL and Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church located at 3001 9th Street, Winthrop Harbor, IL. Followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
