Obituary of Marian E. Geib

Marian E. Geib, 94, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Marian was born May 5, 1927 in Tampa, FL to Laverne and Elsie Benedict. She was a lifelong resident of Lake County, IL. On August 31, 1946, she married the love of her life, Victor W. Geib, in Chicago. Marian was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She was employed as a telephone operator with Illinois Bell (AT&T) for many years and operated “Cakes by Marian” where she designed beautiful cakes and candy. Marian was also known to make ‘the best’ casseroles around. Marian shared her love of Jesus with children by serving as a Child Evangelist After School Bible Class Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group sponsor. She was a prayer warrior, rising every day before the sun came up to pray for her friends, family and anyone in need. Every day, before her children left for school, she would pray for them. She was a member of Waukegan Bible Church, Calvary Temple and Christian Life Fellowship. Marian faithfully attended church, where she particularly enjoyed worshiping through music. Marian is survived by her sons, Victor K. (Donna) Geib and Richard V. Geib; 6 grandchildren, Victor Bryan (Tina) Geib, Rebecca (Todd) Lindley, Rachel (Brian Popp) Geib, John W. (Beth) Geib, Richard M. (Megan) Geib and Hannah Geib; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Victor W. Geib; parents, Laverne and Elsie Benedict; grandson, Ryan Geib; sister, Nancy Pataky; and brother, Harvey Benedict. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research; 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD, 20871. The family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Hills Manor and Star Hospice for their compassionate, kind and loving care.
