Obituary of Eugene Mauser

Eugene “Gene” Mauser was a jack-of-all trades, enjoyed travel, and had a voracious thirst for knowledge. But, more importantly to Gene, he was father of two beautiful daughters, Maureen and Jenny. On May 4, 2021, he passed away unexpectedly while returning from vacation with his daughter Jenny. Gene was born on June 27, 1955, to June and Fred Mauser. Growing up on the family farm, in Wadsworth, he learned the importance of hard-work. He started work at a young age (12) as a dishwasher at a truck stop. Worked at Abbotts as a Chemical Operator. And, experienced the world of construction and excavation by working for his brother, Jerry. However, when he took on his own endeavors, he was the happiest, even though there were some tough-times. He was a dedicated husband to his wife, Merry, for almost thirty years. Gene is survived by his wife, Merry Olsen-Mauser; former wife, Connie Mauser and their daughters, Maureen (Jeff Schenning) and Jennifer “Jenny” Mauser; brothers, John (Carol) and Jerry (Patty) Mauser; sister, Mary June Mauser; brother-in-law, Roy (Rachael) Bauroth; niece, Karen (Kam) Harris; nephew, Mike Mauser; great-nephew, Mark Mauser; great-niece, Madison Mauser. He is preceded in death by his mother, June Mauser; father, Fred Mauser; sister, Ruth Anne Bauroth. Gene will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial visitation will be held on May 13, 2021 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome.
