Obituary of Harvey Neil Van Meter Sr.

Harvey Neil Van Meter, Sr., 69, of Beach Park, IL, passed away suddenly on April 28, 2021. Harvey was born October 9, 1951 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Harvey and Lillian Van Meter. He grew up in Midland, Michigan then went on to serve in the United States Navy. He traveled all over the world, but was stationed in Honolulu for 12 years. There, he met his wife Rebecca Ramirez. They were married on October 8, 1981. He was a systems engineer at Johnson Controls for 10 years, then worked for Siemens until his retirement in 2019. Harvey was a jack of all trades and loved spending time with his dog, Brutus. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; their children, Harvey Van Meter Jr., and Gretchen (Evan) Bonhotal; sisters, Janice Meno and Judi (Ted) Toner; and a brother, Richard (Lourdes) Van Meter. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sandra (Clinton) Becker. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday May 14th, 2021 at the Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL.
