Obituary of Ann Olson

Ann Olson (Nee Ward), 91 years old, of Beach Park passed away March 29th, 2021 at Vista East Medical Center. She was born May 26, 1929 in Waukegan, the daughter of the later Wendell Ward, Sr., and Berta Ward. She married Carl Olson, Sr. on September 19th, 1952 in The Lady Chapel of Christ Episcopal Church. Carl preceded her in death in December 1996, after 44 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Wendell Ward, Jr in February 1995, her two daughters Patricia Ann in 1967, and Elizabeth Ann in 1969. Ann attended Waukegan public schools and graduated high school from Nazareth Academy in Kentucky. She briefly attended Lake Forest College. Ann was president of the Newport Grade School Board, a Lake County election judge, member of St. Patrick’s Shamrock Senior Group, and Vista Circle. She was devoted to her family, spending much time with her grandchildren. Ann enjoyed knitting and reading. Survivors include her sons, Carl (Chris) Olson of Beach Park and Arthur (Michelle) Olson of Antioch. Her sisters Dorothy (Duane) Usa of North Carolina and Mary (Paul) Petersen of Gages Lake, and a brother Jerry (Carla) Ward also of Gages Lake. Seven grandchildren Nikki McCoy, Chase Hurks, and Joshua Olson of Beach Park, and Samantha (Travis) Tanner of Trevor WI, and Zachary, Alexis, and Nicholas Olson of Antioch. Three great grand-children Kayla Hurks, Landon Tanner, and Beau Tanner. Her sister-in-law Shirley Ward and many nieces and nephews.
