Marie P. Hofflander, passed into the arms of Jesus on March 27, 2021 at Rolling Hills Manor, Zion, IL. She had 97 amazing years of life filled with a love of family, friends, travel and most of all her love of Jesus, her Savior leading people to know the Lord. She was born on September 21, 1923 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, IL, to Arthur and Marie Dilger.
Marie graduated from Waukegan Township High School class of 1941. She trained for the ministry at Chicago Bible college, five years in the home of Pastor & Mrs. Leonard Johnson of Waukegan and at Zion Faith Home where she was ordained as a minster of the Gospel. She left for the mission field in 1949 to Kenya, East Africa where she was the administrator of Goibei Girl’s School for four years. She married Rev. Charles Hofflander September 30, 1955 in Waukegan and they moved to Owen, WI where they were pastors of the Owen Gospel Tabernacle for several years. Later they moved to Waukegan where they were pastors of the Full Gospel Tabernancle for 28 years. She was instrumental in coordinating and leading Bible day camp at Bowen Park in Waukegan. In recent years many would come up to her saying how wonderful it was when they were growing up to go to this fun and inspirational event with swimming, crafts, and learning about Jesus during Bible stories. She and her husband often took their boys camping throughout the country in a little pop-up camper even when they were babies. She taught piano lessons for several years which she enjoyed immensely.
She is survived by her four sons; Chuck (Mary), Jonathan, Timothy (Cathy), David (Cary); ten grandchildren, George, Carl, Heidi, Elizabeth, Chelsey, Ashley, Allison, Caroline, McKenna, Alexandra; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
