Shef was a truly remarkable man and Stepdad for 35 years to the Kelly family (Mom’s kids) He was kind, generous and brought our Mom such joy and happiness and made us all feel loved as if we were his own. He will be reunited with Mom and many others in Heaven.He will be sadly missed by all.RIP Shef

On behalf of Nina's children, I would like to say thank you Sheff, for being so kind, generous and inviting to all of us Kelly kids from Nina's first marriage. He treated us as if we were his own children and he loved our mother very much. I have many fond memories of visiting them at their Lincoln Avenue home. Having to travel from my home, several states away, my visits were limited to once a year at most but Mom and Sheff made me feel right at home every time. He was a unique and special man and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him well.
Sincerely;
Mike Kelly

When I think of Shef two things stand out in my mind. The first is how precise he was when he worked. For example, when he cut his grass he always went in very straight lines over his entire yard. One day when he and Nina were sitting on their front porch and I was across the street cutting my grass I decided to fool with them and started cutting my grass in circles, figure eights, and mowed every which way. I could hardly keep from laughing because I could just hear them asking each other "what in the world is he doing?" We all got a kick out of that. The second thing I will always remember is how Shef loved Nina's biscuits and gravy. After Nina's death, he and I would occasionally go out for breakfast. With the exception of the Hickory House's biscuits and gravy, which he said tasted ALMOST like Nina's, he could never find another one he liked. At several restaurants he ordered them, took one taste, and wouldn't take another bite. Picky, picky, picky....he just loved Nina's biscuits and gravy. But I guess what I'll remember most is sitting on his porch and just talking, or going with him up to Farm and Fleet or to some other hardware store, or just knowing he was there as a good friend and neighbor. God be with you my friend and may you be at peace with Nina and your family.
