Obituary of Deborah "Debbie" K Hughes

Deborah K. "Debbie" Hughes, 65, of Zion, IL, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021 in Waukegan, IL. Debbie was born December 8, 1955 in Peoria, IL to Dorance and Darlene Grant. She was a graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School and worked in purchasing at Southwire of Waukegan for 43 years. Debbie loved animals, especially her dogs, and treasured the times, taking them on regular car rides. Her daughters were everything to her and she loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Erica (Cory Reed) Hughes, and Brittany (John) Taylor; grandchildren, Rachel and Jayden Taylor; and lots of grand-puppies; sister, Cindy (Norm) Harris; brother, Michael (Robin) Kochanski; and brother-in-law and dear friend, Nick Hughes; numerous other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her close nephew, Michael Hughes and countless dear friends. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Dorance Grant and Darlene Grant; husband, Richard G. Hughes; sister, Cherl Grant; brother, Kenneth Grant; and a remarkably special Uncle John "Uncle Jackie" Heddes. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Those who cannot be present are invited to view the live stream of the service at 7:00 p.m. on the Congdon Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Moody Bible Institute or Safe Harbor Humane Society would be appreciated.
